The Nook at Mosaic Art Collective has traditionally been used for special installations and performances. Two Aprils ago, during our Trash to Treasure exhibition, we hosted a people’s choice contest—the winner received a month-long solo exhibition in the Nook during our Full Circle Anniversary Celebration. The response was so inspiring that we’ve decided to expand this opportunity to more artists!
We are now accepting proposals for Nook Gallery rentals. Artists may use the space for site-specific installations, solo exhibitions, or small group shows.
Space Details:
Dimensions: 9 ft deep × 6 ft wide × 9 ft tall
Artists are encouraged to reimagine the space—painting and altering the environment is welcome.
The Nook must be returned to its original condition after the exhibition concludes.
Nook receptions will be held in conjunction with Mosaic Art Collective’s regular opening receptions.
Rental Fee: $150
This fee includes:
A press release and advertising for your exhibition
At least two dedicated posts on Mosaic Art Collective’s social media accounts (with the possibility of inclusion in additional posts, reels, stories, and press features)
Inclusion in our Monthly newsletter
An online gallery on MosaicArtCollective.com
An opening reception in coordination with other Mosaic gallery openings
Free access to the gallery space to host one workshop, artist talk, or event related to your exhibition (during your rental month). Planning is the artist’s responsibility, but Mosaic staff can assist with logistics.
Installation Schedule: Installations must be completed on the Sunday before the exhibition opens. Artists will be assigned a time slot to ensure smooth set-up.
Deinstallation: Work must be removed on the Sunday following the closing reception (or as otherwise coordinated with Liz). The space must be returned to its original condition, including painting over any changes made to the walls.
Materials & Equipment: Artists are responsible for providing their own installation supplies (hardware, pedestals, tools, etc.). Mosaic can provide basic hardware and limited tools upon request.
Artwork Safety: While Mosaic Art Collective takes care in securing the space, artists are responsible for the safety and insurance of their own work. MAC is not liable for damage or theft.
Sales & Commissions: Mosaic take a reduced commission on works shown in the Nook Gallery (10%) to cover the expenses of hosting the show on the website as well as collecting payment. Work is not required to be for sale in the Nook Gallery.
Promotion: While Mosaic will promote your show on its platforms, artists are strongly encouraged to promote their exhibition independently to maximize visibility.
Receptions & Events: Your reception will align with Mosaic’s monthly opening receptions. Any additional workshops or events must be scheduled in advance and during gallery open hours.
Respect of Space: As the Nook is part of a shared gallery, installations should not impede access to other exhibition spaces.
Proposal Review: Mosaic reserves the right to decline proposals that do not align with our mission or that present safety/feasibility concerns.
Successful Proposals: should include a detailed plan for the use and layout of the work that will be installed in the space and an artists statement further explaining the work for your show or installation. Please include any details you feel are pertinent to helping us understand what you would like to do.
Work Samples are encouraged as it will give us more information on the work that you plan to show.
The Nook Gallery Proposal Series
The Nook at Mosaic Art Collective has historically been a space for unique installations and performances. During our Trash to Treasure exhibition last April, we ran a people’s choice contest. The winner was awarded a solo show in the Nook Gallery for September, featured as part of our Full Circle Anniversary Celebration. The response was so inspiring that we are now expanding this opportunity to more artists!
We are currently accepting proposals for Nook Gallery Rentals. Artists are invited to create installations, host solo exhibitions, or curate small group shows. The Nook measures 9 feet deep by 6 feet wide, with 9-foot walls—a flexible space that can be transformed for site-specific pieces or to spotlight a cohesive body of work. Artists are welcome to paint or reimagine the space, with the understanding that it must be restored to its original condition at the end of the exhibition. Receptions for Nook shows coincide with Mosaic Art Collective’s monthly opening receptions.
